A rare locality morph of klugii with a distinctive yellow-and-black pattern.
Overview
Armadillidium klugii 'Dubrovnik' is a locality morph originating from the Dubrovnik region of Croatia. It displays yellow and white markings on a dark background. Its distinguishes itself from the more common Clown morph with its vibrant red line or edging along the division of each body segment. Care requirements are identical to Clown, but keep as a pure colony to preserve the morph.
Habitat & Setup
Substrate mix: For best results, use Isopod Paradise Organic Substrate specifically formulated to support healthy colonies. If you would rather mix your own, we recommend a blend of 70% organic topsoil, 10% flake soil, 10% milled sphagnum moss, 8% organics(mushroom compost, earthworm castings and leaf litter) and 2% calcium
Hides & decor: Bark tubes and flats, leaf litter layer, moss patches, coco huts, lotus pods. Cuttlebone for calcium source.
Moisture: Mild gradient. One-third damp, two-thirds dry. Good airflow essential.
Diet & Feeding
The Armadillidium klugii is a detritivore that requires a varied diet to thrive. Its staple diet must consist of decaying hardwood leaves and rotting white wood, supplemented with calcium sources, proteins, and fresh vegetables to ensure healthy molting and reproduction

- Oak & magnolia leaf litter
- Sweet potato, carrot (carotenoid-rich for color)
- Dried shrimp or fish flakes
- Powder formulas like Isopod Chow, Repashy Morning Wood, Bug Burger, etc.
Feeding frequency: Rotate foods on a weekly basis. Remove leftover food when food begins to mold.
Breeding & Lifecycle
Breeds readily like other klugii morphs. Maintain as a pure colony to preserve the Dubrovnik phenotype.
Mancae care: Mancae emerge with faint yellow patterning that intensifies as they mature.
Colony tips: Never mix with Clown morph — offspring will be intermediate in coloration. A closed colony of 30+ adults maintains the yellow morph reliably.
The Dubrovnik morph is named after the ancient walled city on Croatia's Adriatic coast — the same rugged limestone terrain where this species was first collected.
