Porcellio laevis Dairy Cow

Porcellio laevis, commonly known as the “Dairy Cow” is one of the most sought-after Isopods in the lower-end market. Their popularity stems from their striking spots, resembling the pattern of a Holstein cow. They establish moderately quickly in a vivarium and will be a great clean up crew once established.  They are native to Northern Africa.  Their hard, calcified exoskeleton provides a great source of calcium for your larger reptile, amphibians and invertebrates, but not poison dart frogs.  However, isopod enthusiasts tend to not keep these with predators. There’s nothing quite like having your own little herd of heifers when it comes to these delightful Dairy Cow Isopods.
